Since its founding in 2009, Sledgehammer Games has exclusively developed Call of Duty games for parent company Activision, but it might not be that way forever. COO Andy Wilson (no relation to EA CEO Andrew Wilson) told VentureBeat that Call of Duty will remain the team’s main area of focus, but it might also explore other avenues.
“If you look at where we are right now, we’re obviously preparing to ship Vanguard. Clearly we’re also thinking about what comes next,” Wilson said. “The biggest thing for our team is that we want to constantly have interesting, exciting projects to work on. Obviously, Call of Duty is a huge pillar in the studio. It’s our primary focus, what we’re fully invested in right now. Whether there are other things in the future that we look at as well, we’ll take the time to think about all of those things. Culturally, we do that as well. We take the time to breathe occasionally and think about where we want to go.”

The Lord of the Rings TV series, The Rings of Power, had a strong start but it hasn’t landed with everyone. Some have criticized the show, for a number of reasons, and showrunner J.D. Payne says he can’t understand how anyone denouncing the show thinks they are fighting a good fight.
“The spirit of Tolkien is about disparate peoples who don’t trust one another and look different from one another finding common ground in friendship and accomplishing big things,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s the spirit we’ve tried to inculcate into every single comma and period in the show. That this aspiration would be offensive to people and enrage them … it’s very hard for us to understand. What are they protecting? I don’t see how people who are saying these things think that they’re fighting for good.”
Payne pointed to a quote from Galadriel in Rings of Power episode seven where she says every war is fought from without and within, and he believes this applies to the pe…

Electronic Arts has reached a new deal with FIFPro to offer “unparalleled realism” in its football games going forward amid its rights negotiations with FIFA that could see EA Sports drop the FIFA name from future games.
EA extended its deal with FIFPro–a group that represents football players and manages their rights around the world–on Tuesday as part of a “long-term commitment.”
FIFPro is one of the 300+ licensed partners that works with EA on its football series. In extending its deal with FIFPro, EA gets access to “thousands of player names and likenesses.” This is in addition to its many separate rights agreements with various licensing companies that give EA rights for the UEFA Champions League, Conmebol Libertadores, Premier League, Bundesliga, and LaLiga Santander.
“Our players regularly remind us that one of the most important aspects of an EA Sports experience is the deep immersion created through authentic use of the world’s greatest leagues, teams an…
